How to use motorcycle specs before buying

Motorcycle specs are most helpful when you compare several numbers together. Engine size gives a quick idea of the bike class, but weight, seat height, torque, brakes, wheelbase and fuel capacity often explain how practical a motorcycle may feel in daily use.

Start by searching a model, then open its full specs page. Check fit-related data such as seat height and weight, performance-related data such as power and torque, and ownership-related details such as fuel capacity, tyres and braking hardware. After that, use the comparison tool or advanced filter to find similar alternatives.

Fit and comfort
Seat height, weight and dimensions affect confidence, parking, traffic use and low-speed handling.
Performance context
Power, torque and displacement should be read together, not as isolated numbers.
Compare alternatives
Use similar models, brand pages and category filters to avoid choosing from one spec sheet alone.

Reading Motorcycle Specification Sheets Accurately

Our motorcycle database organizes 36,063+ production models across 537 manufacturers so riders can evaluate technical changes year by year. Note the difference between dry weight (measured without fluids) and wet or curb weight (measured ready to ride with oil and fuel), as well as crankshaft vs. rear-wheel horsepower ratings across eras.

Use the search bar above with brand, model and launch year — even with minor spelling variations — or switch to the advanced filter to narrow motorcycles by displacement, seat height, weight and power output.
